We had our second annual back to school camping trip in August. The last weekend before school started we headed up to the mountains and stayed with Oma and Opa. We have such fun there hiking, fishing, enjoying the cooler weather, taking in the sights, date night for Mommy and Daddy….
Memorial weekend we went up to the mountains with Oma and Opa. We had much fun at the White Squirrel Festival. We had some super yummy ice cream sandwiches there!
We also went on a new trail for a hike. The one we wanted to go on was under construction. What a happy accident! We loved this new trail and will go back there again soon. We are even contemplating investing in a tent and camping up there sometime. Picture us carrying camping gear and enough food and water up a mountain! Is it even possible to carrying enough food for the Dalrymple boys?!
We always have a blast in the mountains! Looking forward to our next trip back there…
More mountain fun! Saturday Josh, Jack and Ewan went mountain biking. It was a first for the boys. They took it easy, a simple flat path along the creek and over a bridge. They had a blast!
Sean and I went hiking at the same time. At times we ran, other times it was more of a stroll! Cosmo went with us too. The weather was wonderful.
Jack was thrilled to learn to help take the wheels off and put the bikes on the car. Our little boys are growing fast, tool helpers already!
This day wore Sean out…..he fell asleep on the couch around 5pm, woke up for a couple bites of dinner (yummy purple sweet potatoes and lamb steak from the market) fell back asleep on the couch and barely acknowledged me putting him to bed later! He even slept until 6:45 the next morning!
This past weekend was a long one. The boys had off school Thursday and Friday so Josh took off work and we headed up to the mountains. It was perfect. Gorgeous weather and lots of family time for Jack’s birthday!
Friday, Jack’s birthday, we went apple picking. It was our first time with the boys and we had a blast! We went to Sky Top Orchard. For a Friday at about noon the place was packed! We got our baskets and maps and headed into the orchard. The place it huge. We got several types of apples, Arkansas Black, Cameo, GrannySmith, a couple Galas… In total we got 30 pounds!
The toughest part, especially for Sean, was to NOT eat the apples until we were done picking and paid! That was pure torture for the boys! They enjoyed climbing the trees to pick. The view was absolutely gorgeous as the leaves had already begun to change.
Needless to say Jack had a very happy birthday!
Spending the weekend in the mountains is always fun. This time it is a full house with the five of us plus Oma, Opa and our dog Cosmo! Good times are being had by all.
Yesterday it was the White Squirrel Festival. Last night a date night for me and Josh at a fabulous new Mexican restaurant. Today a hike and then a trip to Dolly’s Dairy Bar for ice cream. What a tough choice…..they added many new flavors for the summer camp season. We all enjoyed every last lick, especially the boys.
Watching the rain this morning out the bedroom window.
